Your First Three Mindset Shifts Should be...

Do you ever feel like the battle going on inside your head keeps you from getting what you want?

Do you ever ask yourself "Is this really even possible for me?"

You're not alone.

Each one of us fights a war inside our own mind.

Luckily for you, a few simple shifts in your mindset can help you get more of what you want, and weaken your inner critic.

You have it in you to grow.

Research by Carol Dweck shows that when we choose a mindset based on progress rather than stagnation we achieve more. If you think you can't ever get better than you are now...well, science disagrees.

Shift: Embrace challenges and view failures as opportunities to learn and grow.

You're always better off thinking positive.

Whether you're reading Seligman or someone else, we've known for a while that positive thinking reduces stress and improves overall health and well-being.

It also resonates better with who you are as a human. Even pessimists are naturally hopeful. It's the very reason we try to change anything at all...ever...we think, "This isn't what life is supposed to be like, I deserve better."

The only reason anything ever feels like its not good enough for us is because we sense our potential for a deep satisfaction with life. Sometimes its buried, but its always there.

You're allowed to be hopeful for the future. You're allowed to hope (and plan) for an improved situation.

Shift: Replace negative self-talk with positive affirmations and gratitude.

Focus on right now.

Mindfulness practices like deep breathing and journaling have been shown to reduce anxiety and increase life satisfaction.

Shift: Concentrate on the present moment rather than dwelling on the past or worrying about the future. Different results require change, and you can only change what is here right now.

Short and sweet today. Good luck.
